5 Best Minnesota Snowmobile Apps

Snow Trails RiderX
Snow Trails RiderX (brought to us by Polaris) is the snowmobiling app that will replace Google Maps while you are out on the trails. Not only does RiderX allow you to plan and track your ride but it allows you to record them and share them. You can take video or photos and include them in your sharable route map. If you need to find gas, food, or lodging you can do it with the tap of a button from within the app. It will even show you radar weather for the area around your ride. The best part is that most of the features for the app don’t even require you to have a signal.

The Snow Trails RiderX app also syncs with the Polaris LINK meaning that if your vehicle is compatible you can monitor and analyze performance to make sure that you are at the top of your game. You will be able to track your mileage and adjust your performance to get the most gas out of your ride.
Another cool feature of Snow Trails RiderX is that you can talk to your local trail club to have their maps integrated with the system. This allows not just you but your whole community to enjoy a better snowmobiling experience.

BackCountry Navigator TOPO GPS
Backcountry Navigator TOPO GPS is one of the best topography navigation apps out there. You can download maps for the United States, including Minnesota, as well as many other parts of the world. Because the maps are all downloaded to your phone there doesn’t need to be a cellphone signal. All you need is a GPS signal. The maps downloaded include trails and boundaries. BackCountry has really good ratings for battery usage which is critical in a GPS app.

If you have an Android Wear device you can see your location with only a glance at your watch. This makes it easier to see where you are. No need to take out your phone.

MN Snowmobile Trails
Minnesota Snowmobile Tails is a great app for navigating trails around Minnesota. One of the great features of this app is that it uses the very recognizable Google Maps API and overlays the tails on top of the map. With offline support you can download your maps to your device for use on the trail where you won’t have cell signal to update the maps. You can also view a variety of different maps from terrain, street, toner, and water color. There are also different overlays from the obvious trail overlays to clouds, snow, and temp.

Snow Goer
Snow Goer is the app for you to view the Snow Goer magazine. The leading place for information on snowmobiling and tips for how to get the most out of your trips. You can also find maintenance tips and tricks should you encounter problems while you are out on the trails. Snow Goer works great as a guide book to bring with you whenever you go out on the trails. You can get a monthly subscription or purchase individual magazines and once you get them, they are yours.

Google Maps
While not an app specifically for snowmobilers Google Maps is a must for anyone who is out and about. It allows you to track where you are and offers a variety of different layer styles. With an app that uses the Google API on the list but it doesn’t have the power of Google Search behind it. With Google search you can see what is and isn’t open, what is around you, and find places to stay/eat. It is your guide to finding where to go once you get back to civilization.

There are a lot of different apps out there that you can use to make your snowmobiling experience in Minnesota more enjoyable.
